Inti Group sources our quinoa directly from Peru.
Inti Group LLC was formed by Patrick Liu and Michael Pepper back in August 2013. However, our co-founders have been friends for almost a decade.
Early in 2013 Patrick was planning a trip to Peru with a group of friends and recommended Michael's uncle Hugo as a tour guide for the group. Patrick and his friends ultimately chose a trip involving a week in the Peruvian Amazon followed by the Inca Trail. The trip was physically intense but the experience and the memories were unforgettable. As part of the tour package, Hugo provided authentic Peruvian cuisine for every meal, all of which involved quinoa in some form or another. The group loved every single meal, especially those cooked with quinoa, and came back to the USA wanting more.
Patrick realized that quinoa was still a growing market here and wanted to team up with Michael to bring high quality, organically and ethically sourced quinoa, from Peru. Michael is from Chicago but spent a significant portion of his youth in his paternal homeland of Peru. He has been interested in starting a company involving Peru for quite some time so when the idea of initially importing quinoa to the States came along, Michael was "all in", as they say in Poker.
